Shopping in Comrie
LesleyMacMakes is a creative workspace and retail outlet on Comrie High Street (Drummond Street).
I come from a family of textile designers and have been designing and making my own products for others to enjoy for over ten years. I previously worked under the name of “Fresh and Vintage Designs” in Blairgowrie where I ran a successful shop and teaching space for many years. My new name is a nod to my grandfather who was never seen without a tape measure!
Since relocating to Comrie I have been working away in my garden studio creating bespoke designs to order….but have now decided to bring my business back to life amongst the other creative folk in Comrie.
Working primarily with Harris Tweed and Scottish Linen my designs can be both contemporary or traditional depending on the pattern or design of the fabric I am working with.
Formerly Shinafoot Studios in Auchterarder, we have been running painting workshops and organising painting holidays for over 27 years, covering many of the beautiful areas in Scotland, as well as Europe, America & beyond
Now on the Dunira Estate, outside Comrie, the art studio is Margaret Evans base for producing stunning landscapes, as well as a golf art portfolio, and portrait commissions. We also offer a bespoke picture framing service , Anyone interested in purchasing work, or having framing advice can make an appointment for a private viewing, and enquiries are welcome
Margaret Evans is a full time, fully trained professional artist, graduated from Glasgow School of Art, and University of London, member of several international Pastel Societies and member of the Glasgow Art Club
All enquiries welcome

Professional wildlife & landscape artist working mostly in oils.
Since childhood I’ve been an enthusiast of the natural world and my paintings are an expression of this. I aim to create stimulating visual images that originate from my day-to-day experiences and knowledge of the countryside around me. My methods involve close attention to composition, animal behaviour, habitat detail and lighting, aiming to create an accurate and yet artistic rendition of subjects. Above all else I favour compositional ideas where the effects of lighting and the drama of weather conditions play a key role, striving to capture those wildlife encounters made all the more “magical” by the elements.
Studio visits are welcome by appointment

Generously the Handy Shop and their staff kindly hold the key to the Community Notice Board (at the bus stop) and close our public toilets in the evenings which we as a community thank them for.
