LesleyMacMakes is a creative workspace and retail outlet on Comrie High Street (Drummond Street).
I come from a family of textile designers and have been designing and making my own products for others to enjoy for over ten years. I previously worked under the name of “Fresh and Vintage Designs” in Blairgowrie where I ran a successful shop and teaching space for many years. My new name is a nod to my grandfather who was never seen without a tape measure!
Since relocating to Comrie I have been working away in my garden studio creating bespoke designs to order….but have now decided to bring my business back to life amongst the other creative folk in Comrie.
Working primarily with Harris Tweed and Scottish Linen my designs can be both contemporary or traditional depending on the pattern or design of the fabric I am working with.
The ethos behind Scents of the Wild is to make beautiful, natural plant wax candles that enhance wellbeing and are kind to animals and the environment.
To me, this means using *no* paraffin wax, *no* animal derivatives, *no* artificial fragrance or colourants, and *no* unsustainable, genetically modified soy wax that’s been flown from the other side of the planet.
I hand make the candles at home in Comrie using 100% natural, sustainable, European-produced soy wax, cotton & paper wicks, recyclable amber glass jars with aluminium lids, and jar labels printed on recycled paper.
The candles are infused with my own unique blends of 100% natural, pure, unadulterated essential oils – chosen both for their scent and specific therapeutic properties – and topped with real flower petals for a pretty and colourful finish.
The result is a beautiful, naturally scented, clean burning, eco-friendly, vegan soy wax candle, designed to enhance your mood while respecting and celebrating our environment!
5% of all candle sales are donated to The Woodland Trust to help support the amazing work they do to protect and restore our natural ecosystems and combat climate change.
Candles are currently available to order from my website: https://scentsofthewild.co.uk or can be hand delivered to your door if you live in Comrie.
