Now that we have elected the next Scottish Parliament our challenge is to decide how to vote in the EU Referendum.
We are delighted to announce the eleventh Comrie Conversations will be held at 19.30 on Friday 10th June to help you think through the issues. Just as our evenings during the indyref were not about ‘yes or no’ this one isn’t about ‘in or out’ but what it means for the future of Scotland.
We have invited three great speakers to join us, give us their take on the issues and help us stimulate discussion among everyone who attends. Our speakers are:
Kevin McKenna: writes regularly for the Observer and the Scottish Daily Mail. He has been in the newspaper industry for over 25 years and held executive positions at five of our most prestigious titles.
David Torrance: is a journalist, author and contemporary historian. He is a regular political commentator on STV and the BBC and has recently published a book, backed by the Electoral Reform Society, entitled ‘EU Referendum: A Guide for Voters’.
Lesley Orr: is a historian, author and activist. She is on the boards of Zero Tolerance and the progressive think tank, Common Weal. She is Associate Director of the Edinburgh Centre for Theology and Public Issues.
As always, the evening will be a party political free zone and is organised by local people for local people. The bar will be open throughout the event, with a relaxed atmosphere and please feel free to just come and listen if you prefer. We are going to attempt an audio recording to issue a podcast following the event.
We look forward to seeing you then.
