Sat 12th September - Stone of Destiny (PG)
In 1950, Glasgow student Ian Hamilton had a brain wave - go to London, break into Westminster Abbey and take the Stone of Destiny back to Scotland. The mission caught the public imagination back home and turned Hamilton and his accomplices into folk heroes.
Sun 11th October - North Face (12A)
This film is being shown as part of the Crieff & Starthearn Drovers Tryst Nineteen-thirty-six, and as Nazi propaganda urges the nation's youth to mount a challenge on the unclimbed north face of the Eiger, two young Germans begin a daring ascent in this adventure film based on a true story.
Sat 7th November - Inside I'm Dancing (15)
James McAvoy displays dark charm as frustrated rebel Rory O'Shea, confined to a wheelchair through muscular dystrophy and unable to move much more than his mouth, which he uses to wind up the staff at the Carrigmore Residential Home For The Disabled. His arrival at the home is a breath of fresh air for long-term resident Michael (Robertson), also wheelchair-bound, whose cerebral palsy has rendered his speech almost impossible to understand. To everyone, that is, except Rory. Finally, Michael has a friend he can talk to - and who can bust him out of the home and into the big wide world where beer and women await. But their new flat share brings its own challenges.
Sat 12th December - The Reader (15)
THE READER opens in post-WWII Germany when teenager Michael Berg becomes ill and is helped home by Hanna, a stranger twice his age. Michael recovers from scarlet fever and seeks out Hanna to thank her. THE READER is a story about truth and reconciliation, about how one generation comes to terms with the crimes of another
Sat 16th January - Hallem Foe (18)
The wonderful thing about Hallam Foe is its combination of moods, notably of foreboding and breezy comedy. The result is an original and entertaining rites-of-passage tale that keeps us on our toes throughout.
Sat 20th February - The Duchess (12A)
Kiera Knightly stars as Georgina, Duchess of Devonshire in this sumptuous costume drama. Georgina is in a loveless marriage, sharing her husband with his mistress - but when she falls in love with another man, the scandal threatens to tear them apart.
Sat 27th March - Slumdog Millionaire (15)
A wildly energetic, Dickensian drama about the desultory life and times of an Indian boy whose bleak, formative experiences lead to an appearance on his country's version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?"
April 24th -AGM & Ray (15)
The life of blind soul music legend Ray Charles, starring Jamie Foxx - Foxx appears to capture the man's soul. Add that to the phenomenal music that he produced - mostly given rousing treatment by director Hackford - and you have a truly potent combination.
