Due to the history of flooding in Comrie from the water of Ruchill, Earn and Lednock Perth & Kinross Council implemented flood protection works to reduce the rise of it happening again. Since the completion of their works the Council has been developing a wider flood scheme to address the risk of flooding from the Earn and Lednock. This scheme is included on the national priority list of flood schemes and forms part of the published Tay Flood Management Strategy and Local Food Risk Management Plan.
The Council engaged consulting engineers (Sweco) in August 2017 to progress an outline design for the flood scheme. However, before they take it any further they will be engaging with the community to discuss Sweco’s recent work.
You can find out more about those proposals at two community drop-in sessions that will be held at the White Church Community Centre on Tuesday 30th April and Wednesday 8th May from 2pm-8pm. Representative from the Council and Sweco will be available to answer any questions you may have. Representatives from SEPA and the Scottish Flood Forum have also been invited to attend.
If you require and further information about the scheme then please view the Council’s website http://www.pkc.gov.uk/comriefloodscheme or contact either Craig McQueen, Engineer (Flooding) on 01738 477219 or David Lynn, Technician (Flooding) on 01738 476524
