Title: Scottish Government backs Comrie Carbon Challenge

The Comrie Development Trust is delighted to announce that it has received the backing of the Scottish Government's Climate Challenge Fund to develop its work around the Comrie Carbon Challenge project

The Trust will be working with the whole village to reduce Comrie's carbon footprint and to continue the sustainable development of the Cultybraggan site.

Exciting and innovative projects will include working with the primary school, local businesses and organisations; home energy audits and renewable energy schemes for community buildings; community recycling, composting and wormeries; local food production including allotments, biodiversity areas and woodland planting and much more besides.

The funding will enable the creation of two high quality local jobs: a Comrie Carbon Challenge Officer and a CDT Office Manager, with a closing date for applications of Friday 3rd October 2008. Further details can be found on  {cms_selflink ext="http://www.comrie.org.uk/news/17/109/CDT-Jobs-Opportunities.html" text="this website" target="_blank"}, enquiries to {email src="cdt@comrie.org.uk"}. . The Trust will be opening an office in the village in October to house the staff and provide a drop in point for local people to find out more about the work of the Trust.

Further information about this ambitious project and a detailed update on developments at Cultybraggan will be provided at the Trust's next Open Meeting to be held on Monday 1 September 2008 at 7.30pm in the White Church. Ends: Contact: Cathy Tilbrook 01764 679786
