Monday 14th March
I had a call late afternoon from Dave Stubbs at PKC about the Shaky Bridge.
He informed me that are looking to appoint an engineer to look at the bridge, possibly from the company that built it.
We will then get an update when they receive the report.
I hope it is sooner rather than later.
Firstly let me apologise. I received this on Friday but have had such a busy weekend I have only now been able to log on.
This came in from a Dave Stubbs at PKC. The Richard he refers to is our Countryside Ranger:
I am Richard’s line manager and have been tasked with coordinating external communications in relation to the closure of the Shaky Bridge.
We’ve briefed the ward councillors today and would hope to be in a position to respond to the Community Council and others on Monday. Councillor Brock came away from the Community Council meeting with a series of questions all of which we have tried to answer.
The Council recognises the importance of the bridge and the strength of feeling within the community about the current closure. We appreciate the concern and would not have closed the bridge were it not for the defects in the supporting structure and the state of the tree itself.
We would very much like to work with the Community Council, owners and other interested parties to reopen of the bridge as soon as possible when it is safe to do so, and if that is not possible, on its replacement.
I’ll contact you again on Monday but in the meantime we apologise for the inconvenience caused by the closure of the bridge.
So lets see what tomorrow brings – Sandra
