As you’ll probably know, We have a very lovely concert with Redwood Mountain organised for next weekend – Saturday 19th May at the Rural Hall. Doors open 7.30 and BYOB. We are really lucky that musicians of such renown want to come to our wee village.
Redwood Mountain, are Dean Owens and Amy Geddes and they will be entertaining us with their fantastic musicianship and transatlantic songs – it’s americana, bluegrass and folk with a country twang. If you like your songs melodic, sweet and beautifully sung and played, this is for you. Dean is one of Scotland’s best singer songwriters and Amy one of our best fiddlers and teachers, so when you have two of the best you are guaranteed an excellent evening’s music. Added to that, we have a support from Albi, who is a smoky voiced singer with great craic and stories. It’s all shaping up to be a fantastic evening.
It’s the last gig in the Rural Hall before it closes for refurbishment. It’ll open up again in around 6 months and will have TWO new toilets – and insulation and a new heating system 🙂
Amy is a much sought after teacher and she has recently launched a new teaching book which she was talking about on Radio Scotland’s Travelling Folk last week. You can read more about it here: http://www.amygeddes.co.uk/default.htm
Amy has agreed to run a Fiddle Workshop
on Saturday in the Rural Hall from 11.30am to 1.30pm for players with some experience – that is, not complete beginners. It will cost £20 (£10 concessions) – payment at the workshop. To reserve a place please email me or call 07751329967 or message on the Facebook Chris’s Gigs page here: https://www.facebook.com/comriegigs/
On Saturday June 23rd, we have Blue Rose Code
in the White Church. If you don’t know him, have a quick look around the internet. You will find lots and lots of examples of his work. Here is one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPOyHs1Bpto
He will be here with the full band, and will be supported by the wonderful local band Moyenda who fuse Malawian and Scottish music.
Thanks for continuing to support live music locally. If you didn’t keep coming,we couldn’t keep doing this.
