ROSEANNA ENCOURAGED BY NEWS OF POTENTIAL RBS U-TURN
Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for the Perthshire South & Kinross-shire constituency, has welcomed indications in the Sunday press that RBS are expected to announce this week a u-turn on their initial announcement on the closure of local branches.
Speaking today (Monday) Ms Cunningham said:
“I am encouraged to hear that RBS are re-considering their position on the closure of Branches like those in Kinross and Comrie in my constituency. The details of any reversal are not yet clear but there certainly appears to be movement from their recently stated position that they would not re-visit the decision.
“If there is indeed a new approach from RBS then it will be a great credit to the response from those communities, faced with losing their local bank, who have made their displeasure known.
“RBS owes it to their customers to be transparent in this process, to share publicly the usage figures – at a local branch level – on which they make these decisions and to recognise the important role that bank branches play within local communities, particularly those in rural areas.”
