Ministers Approval to Proceed with Purchase
The Trust has received the formal go ahead from the Scottish Executive to proceed with the purchase of Cultybraggan by the deadline of the 7th September 2007. Following the overwhelming support for the idea through the community ballot, the Trust had to submit the results of the ballot with an outline business case for the purchase to Scottish Ministers at the Parliament. This is the final hurdle of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003. As long as we can raise the purchase cost and our community are happy with the plans, we can all own 90 acres of land in September.
In addition to this approval we received words of encouragement from the Minister!
Next Stage
All attention is now turning to working with the village to agree options for the land and prepare a full business plan to ensure that the plans are financially sustainable. The Trust are now deeply involved in meetings with the consultancy team to make sure everyone is ready to take a decision before the deadline. Full details of how villagers can get involved, when meetings will be and what will be happening over the next couple of months will be announced shortly. It looks like the next big community meeting will be on Monday 25th June in the White Church at 7.30pm.
