The Comrie Development Trust took another massive step towards the purchase of Cultybraggan Army Camp last night.  At a packed village meeting, members of the Trust voted conclusively to proceed with the purchase by the deadline of the 6th September.   Cathy Tilbrook, the chair of the interim board of the Trust was overwhelmed by the support shown at the meeting.  “ Tonight, the membership of the Trust showed their commitment to the challenge and responsibilities of owning 90 acres of land.”

The start of the meeting was delayed by some 15 minutes as villagers queued to find a space in the hall.  One villager said, “ This chance will never come again.  No matter the troubles and difficulties that lie ahead we simply have to buy it!”.  Cathy Tilbrook stressed the importance of working together saying, “Our village is packed with talent, skills and energy.  Now is the time to come forward to make Cultybraggan and the work of the Trust a success”.

While the meeting inevitably focused on Cultybraggan, the annual report outlined all the other work of the Trust.  For example, the Community Cinema group has just been successful in gaining lottery funding for their own equipment and the first season of films starts shortly.  The Youth Group also celebrated the programme of different events the Trust has organised over the last year for local youngsters.

The meeting concluded with the election of a full compliment of 12 board members to lead the work of the trust over the next year.
