Comrie Primary School

Comrie Primary School is a non denominational school with a catchment area which covers the village and outlying areas. The school has seven teachers and two head teachers, a part time support for learning teacher and visiting specialists for PE, art, music and drama. Support for Learning Assistants and Classroom Assistants work with the children throughout the week. In our nursery class, which is open for half-day sessions both morning and afternoon, Early Childhood Practitioners work with our youngest pupils and are supported by fortnightly visits from a nursery teacher. Our main building is an attractive traditional stone built school in which 4 classrooms and the offices are located. Other classes are located in mobile units to the side of the building. We have a fully equipped resources room, a dining centre, a playground with play equipment, a nursery garden, and a wonderful playing field for athletics, games and sports.
The Comrie Primary School website(external link) has been produced by pupils, staff and parents working in partnership. We hope you enjoy finding out about our school, our work, our partnerships, our past and our future.

A lot of work has been going on behind the scenes these past few weeks. Rod has been liaising with the potential builders and we will be in a position to announce the builder when we return to school on 24 October and make a start on the building before the end of the month.
Local artists have been discussing a whole school art plan to design the floor of the building using a type of clay and we hope to have that organised to start as soon as the build is at the right stage. We are also hoping to get the school children involved in the construction of the wall of hay bales. All this, of course, has to be risk assessed in order to ensure that at all times the children will be working in a safe environment.
The Hub committee of children have decided on a wall panels for each season, to be fixed to the inside walls of the centre with drawings from all the school children to be incorporated - we will start work on that next term. This group have also visited Bumble Bee Square and seen the (now empty) bees nest and have been learning about the bees. We have ordered catalogues from a specialist Scottish seed company that supply seeds and plants for turf roofs and for butterfly and bee gardens. The school has also ordered from the Woodland Trust trees to be planted round the Hub. We are now looking into what else we will build into the centre.
We are aware that we need to build before the end of the year or we will loose our funding, but the landscaping will be done in the spring time (which is the correct time for planting) and we have had promises of help from Gleneagles Hotel, Comrie in Colour and various parents, as well as the trees (mentioned before).
I hope you all have a lovely Autumn holiday
Kind Regards
Janice
