This is to inform you that the Tay Local Flood Risk Management Plan will be published by Perth & Kinross Council on 22 June 2016. Other lead authorities will also be publishing similar Plans for the Forth, Forth Estuary and Tay Estuary & Montrose Basin local plan districts at the same time.
The Plans have been developed in partnership with SEPA, Scottish Water, other local authorities, the National Park Authorities and Forestry Commission Scotland.
SEPA published their Flood Risk Management Strategies in December 2015. These documents outline the actions that will be used to manage flood risk in each local plan district and in particular within the Potentially Vulnerable Areas (PVA’s). The Flood Risk Management Strategies can be viewed on the SEPA website at http://apps.sepa.org.uk/FRMStrategies/tay.html.
The Local Flood Risk Management Plans supplement the published SEPA Strategies and provide additional information on responsibilities, timescales, funding and coordination arrangements for the delivery of the actions within each PVA. The selected actions cover all aspects of flood risk management being carried out by SEPA, the Council, Scottish Water and other responsible authorities, and include planned schemes and works, maintenance, new studies, flood forecasting, awareness raising, self-help and emergency plans and response. As many people may be unaware that their business and/or home may be at risk of flooding, these plans will highlight the potential impact of flood risk in their local area and the actions that they and the public authorities can take to manage the risk of flooding.
Anyone wishing to read the Local Flood Risk Management Plans will be able to access them online via the flooding pages on the Council’s website at http://www.pkc.gov.uk/frmplans
