Shakey Bridge Latest News – 20th April
This just in from Dave Stubbs at PKC
Further to the update provided at the beginning of April, we have now received the engineer’s initial report and are considering this in relation to the tree and woodland officer’s report. Initial indications are that there is a possible repair that could be done which would address the immediate problem and give us time to look at a longer term solution. We are currently discussing the repair with the relevant suppliers and contractors and if successful, should allow us to reopen the bridge once the works are implemented. As soon as we know if this is feasible and the likely timescales, a further update will be issued.
We are also looking at the longer term solutions in the report, including the future of the tree. We will consult the community on that in due course, once we have clear options and estimated costs, as it is highly likely that this will need to be a partnership project involving the community, landowners and Council to make it happen.
I briefed the 3 Councillors in similar terms yesterday and will update the other interested parties now too.
