I am writing to inform you that the canopy of the tree that the Shaky Bridge goes through will be removed in its entirety in the coming week.
Preliminary works were carried out last week and the remainder of the canopy will be removed (weather permitting) on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
The decision to remove the canopy from the tree has been openly discussed and has the approval of the local community (via community council and development trust) and both landowners. Community Greenspace are working with the community council to secure funding to retain the bridge *and its shaky character, for generations to come.
Posters advising that the bridge will be temporarily closed in the coming weeks have been situated at all formal entrances to the walk.
These are purely advisory, since putting them in place I have been advised by our contractor that the works will take place without formally closing the bridge (or at worst, those wishing to cross will only have a short amount of time to wait to be allowed safe crossing) new signs to reflect this will be put in place tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.
Should you or any member of the community wish to discuss this further, please contact me direct via the number and email below.
