Strathearn Ramblers – Update to First Hill Walk of the Season
This walk has been reconnoitred by the walk leaders and they have updated the walk description from that given in Newsletter No. 72. It reads as follows:
17th April Hill Walk Meall Tairneachain (787m) & Farragon Hill (787m), Aberfeldy
This is the first hill walk of the season and accordingly it is not too difficult. It is a fairly long walk on higher ground interspersed with 2 short steepish climbs up the above 2 Corbetts.
The bus will drop us near Schiehallion. The walk begins with a steady uphill stretch through the forest on a vehicle track.
Once out on the open moorland there are initially good views to the north and later views to the south over the Tay valley and beyond.
The walk finishes near Cluny Gardens about 2 miles east of Aberfeldy where the bus will collect us.”
Bus departs Comrie School car park at 08.30 and Crieff Coop car park at 08.50.
Bus costs £5
Leaders: Robert Burns (670408), Charlie Panton, Dave McKeggie
