Calling all YESsers, and all those who are interested.  In keeping the ‘Spirit of YES’ alive in this exciting year ahead and in addition to your support for your political party of choice (and to those who have chosen not to join a party),  we hope you are up for sustaining the incredible civic alliance that made the YES campaign so powerful.

So far the following programme of events lined up for 2015:

Comrie Cinema Club – Saturday January 17th: @ WRI Hall, Nurses Lane Comrie. This is the first screening of 2015 and is a ‘political’ double bill with the two films ‘Pride’ and ‘The Enemy Within’ &

Please come along with your picnic tea and a bottle & some friends. Films will start at 4.00 with a discussion with ex miner Jim Tierney in between films & time to eat your tea. Pride will start at 7.30pm £5.00 a film.

Comrie Conversations – Friday 6th February: 19.30 @ White Church Comrie. Following the fantastic turnout for the first post indyref conversation (and the overwhelming desire for them to continue) we are delighted to announce this next conversation.
In response to suggestions, we are tweaking the formula for the post indyref situation. There was a strong feeling that each conversation should focus on a topical issue that requires our attention and is something we can change and influence now, with the powers we already have.

Folk felt that as well as helping us all to understand the issue at hand and make our personal responses, we might try and get an overall response from the event itself. So the next one will be on the subject of the new Land Reform Legislation (consultation ends a week later).
We have provisionally secured the journalist and campaigner, Andy Wightman who will be in conversation with Andrew Barbour who owns Bonskeid Estate near Pitlochry. We are taking our inspiration for the new format from the radio 4 programme ‘Agree to Disagree’ in a chaired discussion between these two fascinating speakers that will replace the 3 x 20 min presentations in the old structure. The discussion at tables and open discussion among those attending will remain.

The Scottish Enlightenment – Friday 20th February: 19.30 @ WRI Hall, Nurses Lane Comrie.
This is the latest in this outstanding series of talks by Comrie’s own Ann Petrie. If you have missed the first two – get yourself along for an entertaining, informative and enjoyable journey through history (again bring your own wine/drink/food to add to your enjoyment).

Pre Election Laugh and Music – Saturday 25th April: 19.30 White Church Comrie. Following the massive success of the Mini YEStival we are planning a second, pre UK election evening of fun to lift the spirit and rally the troops for the election that will change Westminster! We are going for the same format of a comedian/stand up and live music to have fun and raise some more funds. I’m delighted to say we have secured Alan Bisset for the stand up slot. Many of you will know his writings and how active Alan was during the referendum (see

Please put these dates in your diary.
