Meet the Band

Chairman John Drummond

I have now been Chairman of the Band for eight years, an appointment which gives me enormous pleasure and satisfaction in assisting the Band in any way possible. I was first connected to a Pipe Band at school and during a thirty five year military career in the Royal Highland Fusiliers. I was closely involved with the Regimental Pipe Band and while in Northern Ireland was the President of the Ulster Defence Regiment Pipe Band.

On leaving the Army in 1992 I joined the Scottish Ambulance Service and assisted in the setting up and development of their Pipe Band for the next 7 years. On arriving in Comrie on retirement in 1999 I greatly enjoy seeing and listening to the Comrie Pipe Band at the Comrie Fortnight and the Flambeaux in particular. I also enjoyed a brief stint as bass drummer before handing over to the much more proficient Louise Fridge.

For a village the size of Comrie the Pipe Band is an invaluable asset and we all should be very proud of belonging to such a fine organization
