Festive Drink and Drug Drive Campaign
1 December 2023 – 2 January 2024
Running over the Christmas period, the Festive Drink and Drug Driving campaign emphasises the risks of driving after consuming drugs or alcohol. The campaign aims to communicate the risks it presents to drivers, passengers and other road users.
This campaign targets all drivers, of any age and experience.
Key Messages
- Don’t put yourself at risk. Think of the consequences.
- Think of the impact it could have on your loved ones. You could kill someone.
- If you are concerned about a driver’s behaviour, let us know. You could save a life.
- It doesn’t matter how good a driver you think you are, alcohol or drugs will affect your reactions and your judgement.
- If you know someone is going to drive after drinking alcohol or taking drugs, please speak to them. It could be the difference between life and death.
- Alcohol can affect people’s reasoning and perception of risk but there is no excuse. It’s a choice.
UPDATES
2 Males aged 18 & 23 were issued with recorded police warnings for selling Fake goods without a licence in High Street, Perth on Saturday 25th November.
A 43 year old male was arrested and charged for possession of an offensive weapon in Foundry Lane, Perth on Sunday 26th November.
A 59 year old man was arrested for drink driving on the A823 near Gleneagles on Sunday 25th November.
2 Males aged 27 & 36 years old have been reported to the procurator Fiscal for theft by shoplifting offences in Kinross between Saturday 28th October and Wednesday 22nd November.
During the last week 7 drivers were found to be without insurance.
RECENT INCIDENTS
At around 2am 22nd November, a householder on Rose Crescent, Perth, disturbed 2 males trying to gain entry to their shed. Both males ran away after seeing lights from within the property. Both described as male and approx. 5’6” in height. (CR404446/23)
Between 8pm Sunday 19th and 8am Wednesday 22nd November, The Comrie fish and chip shop, Comrie was broken into, nothing was taken from within. (CR/405356/23)
Between Thursday 23rd and Saturday 25th November, a property on Malvina Place, Perth was broken into and numerous items stolen from within. (CR/408633/23)
Between 6pm, Saturday 25th & 5am, Sunday 26th November, Errol Market, Errol was broken into and a number of items taken from within. The suspect is described as a heavy build male, 5’8”-6’ in height, with a beard and was wearing a beanie hat and scarf over part of his face. (CR/409509/23)
Between 7pm and 7.05pm, Saturday 25th November, the window of a Toyota Celica was smashed and a bag stolen from within on East High Street, Crieff. (CR/409733/23)
