Following an extensive refurbishment and the relaxing of COVID restrictions, the former Royal Bar has reopened to guests with a fresh new look and a brand new menu created by head chef David Morris.
Now called The Melville, the Royal Hotel’s “exciting new casual eating and dining area and wine bar” has been bustling with diners inside and out, with the return of the Giant Tipi Garden.
The Melville’s new Facebook page is brimming with enticing images of eating and dining options served from 8am to 9pm daily – from its full hot and cold breakfast menu with Illy coffee and fresh pastries, to lunchtime light bites and full-blown three-course meals.
“It’s been lovely to see all your smiling faces. We have been completely overwhelmed by your support – it has been amazing!” read one post from the team.
This particular local (i.e. me) can attest to the fabulousness of the new setup having visited no less than three times since the reopening – once for dinner, once for lunch and once for a champagne reception – all wonderful. The food and service were marvelous and the new look is bright, fresh and welcoming. Next up, breakfast! Seeing local people out and about enjoying themselves and socialising (within the scope of all the current guidelines, of course) is a joy!
Given the enthusiasm of locals and visitors to sample all The Melville has to offer, the team strongly recommends booking ahead to avoid disappointment.
