Police Scotland – Area Commanders Report

by Comrie CC | Dec 7, 2020 | News

Perth and Kinross Local Area Commanders Bulletin

Wednesday 2nd December 2020

The annual festive drink and drug driving campaign was launched yesterday with enforcement due to run from Tuesday 1st December until Sunday 3rd January.

Disappointingly a small minority of people still think it is an acceptable risk to take and so our patrols will target those who choose to do so.

The current limits on the amount of alcohol a person can legally drive with are

22 mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath (the ‘breath limit‘)

50 mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood (the ‘blood limit’)

Of course you could still be unfit to drive even though you are below the legal threshold.

I would always advocate a policy of no alcohol if you intend to drive. And please be aware that if you are drinking the night before you may still be over the limit the next morning. So if you  do have to drive the next morning consider stopping at an appropriate time.
