Description: The Falls of Leny provide an impressive target on this straightforward walk from Callander. Starting from the town centre the route follows the combined cycle-walkway along the old railway line following the river upstream and then returns through oak woodland before rejoining the cycle track.

 

27th November.   Kinnoull Hill & Perth Riverside.  Walk.

Distance 7.5 miles

Leave Comrie School Car park 9am. Crieff Co-op 9:15am.  Meet South Inch Car park Perth. What3Words chew.blog.amused  (Free on Sundays but toilets closed)

Description: Kinnoull Hill has fine woodlands and a dramatic clifftop escarpment above the Tay.It makes a grand setting for a cylindrical tower built as a folly. The whole walk makes an excellent circuit from Perth city returning through delightful riverside gardens.

 

15th January ’23.  The Knock & Callum’s Hill. Stroll.        

Distance: 5 miles

Start & Finish: Meet at Crieff Golf Club 10.20.

Description: To get us back into the swing after the New Year this is a pleasant meander around the Knock area. Hopefully for some ramblers Dave will take us on paths that have never been walked before. As has been the case previously the route may vary depending on the weather conditions so please wear suitable footwear.

 

29th January. The Maam Road & Dunira. Walk        

Distance: 9 miles

Start & Finish: Meet at Comrie School Car Park 09.00

Depart: Crieff Coop Car Park 8.40
Description: A good leg stretcher for the first walk of the year walking up to the Deil’s Cauldron then onto the Maam Road and Druim na Cille then back to Comrie by Twenty Shilling Wood. This is a lovely local walk which should not be missed. This is a good      opportunity to meet up again with rambling friends after the festive break.

 

19th February. Almondbank to Dalcrue circuit. Stroll .

Distance: 5 miles

Description: The ramblers have not done this stroll for ten years. It is a pleasant walk to Dalcrue from Almondbank and back again on country paths however it could be muddy in places. There are some short uphills on this stroll but you are rewarded with an area which has been seldom walked by the ramblers. This is a very pleasant day out.

 

26th February.  Bennybeg and Drummond Circular .  Walk

Depart: Comrie School Car Park 9.00

Description: This is a fine walk starting at the Crieff Visitor car park and walking along the River Earn to  Bennybeg. From there we cross the road and enter the Drummond Estate. Walking passed the castle through to the “Gingerbread House” then down the Balloch Road then running right along a path through woods and fields back to the Crieff Visitor Centre. Some of the paths can be muddy in places so please wear appropriate footwear.

 

12th March. Craigie Hill. Stroll

Description: Starting at Cherrybank Inn this is a walk onto the rolling hills to the south of Perth. The stroll gives great views over Perth & as far as the Highlands. We will take our time on the steeper parts of this pleasant hill. Please note that one of our members used to run up this hill during lunchtime. Part of the local history of the area was an unsolved   murder on the Cuddies Strip, a good talking point on the walk.

 

26th March. Forgandenny & Castle Law. Walk

Description: Park in Station Road opposite the Public Hall. Leaving the main road head towards Kinnaird Farm and into Garbie Woods and on to Culteuchar Farm and Castle Law. The return is via Westhall and South Dumbuils to Forgandenny. Terrain is on good tracks and footpaths.

Booking procedures

Visitors are always very welcome to join walks / strolls but will be asked to take cognisance of government Covid 19 guidelines.

The only means to join a walk or stroll is initially to book in advance by contacting Irwin Keith on  01764  652541  giving your name and mobile number for contact purposes.  Once you have the leaders contact details please let them know if you have changed your mind.

A token charge of £1 per visitor will be requested as a donation towards the group insurance cover.

No one turning up on the day without pre-booking will be allowed to join.

Please note. The main walk / stroll leaders for each event will decide whether it will take place on the date shown in the programme or on another nearby day if the weather forecast is better.

They will communicate this to all Ramblers who have previously indicated an interest in participating, usually 3-4 days ahead.
